a modern-language staged reading of the Psalms, written in large part by King David, affectionately regarded by God as "a man after His own heart" (1 Samuel 13:14 & Acts 13:22). a compelling poetic assembly of King David's heartfelt petitions to God.

An Evening with the Bard

Def: /bärd/ noun ARCHAIC•LITERARY

a poet, traditionally one reciting epics and associated with a particular oral tradition.

Celebrating the one known wondrously as Dr. Maya Angelou! the artistry of her pen transcends time in this piece through the words of some of her more notable works like Still I Rise and I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, Alone, Touched By An Angel, and many more.

Dr. Maya Angelou was an American poet, singer, memoir-ist, and civil rights activist. She is noted as a modern-day literary TITAN! Her legacy includes notoriety as one of the most important African American authors of the 20th century. 

 

This theatrically staged work, artfully weaves together several of her poetic masterpieces through various mediums of artistic expression.

Acting Out Monologue Competition

Professional actors throughout South Florida 'act off' across various genres, before a panel of industry judges and a live voting audience; round-for-round, until there's just one left standing!

Group Therapy

The day has finally come! Mary, nine-months pregnant with the baby Jesus, has excitedly launched her first-ever International Group Therapy Marriage Intensive weekend, which she's cutely coined "IG-TMI!" She is all bells and ready to facilitate healing among the most challenging of marriages alongside her wacky, defiant, and begrudged assistant Joseph, who is also her fiance, and who has his own ax to grind, primarily: who has impregnated Mary???

Journey with this tremendous cast of Biblical couples for a modern-day look at how these historical foundational relationships compare to today's code of relationship standards, requirements, deal-breakers, soul-searching, and God's order. 

The first ever Black Theatre Fringe Festival of South Florida was presented June 16 - 19, 2022! The Festival was produced by Fulfillment Theatre Company and Beaux Production Co.

 

The Festival provided opportunities among the local Arts community by main-staging new works of art by Playwrights who otherwise may not have the chance to perform their works. Never before seen shows, hot off the press scripts, artists at all levels of their careers got the chance to train and perform during this 4-day Festival featuring playwrights, producers, directors, teaching artists, and actors galore of the African Diaspora.

 

Thank you to the Liberia Sankofa Cultural Center at New Jerusalem Church, and The Florida Children's Theatre for allowing this Festival to present in their houses.

FTC was honored to have two shows in the Festival:

1. The Harlot's Husband (Thursday, June 16)

2. An Evening with the Bard (Saturday, June 18)
